About Us

About us and The Lapponian Herder Breed

We are a family of Veterinarians and make sure our puppies are all healthy and up to date of their vaccinations. The puppies are fed a high quality diet and start human desensitization routines as soon as they are 2 weeks old.  


The Lapponian Herder (Lapinporokoira or Lapp Reindeer Dog or Lapsk Vallhund) is a breed of dog from Finland, one of three Lapphund breeds developed from a type of dog used by the Sami people for herding and guarding their reindeer. We Love our Lapponian Herders, who are active but also have an off switch and love to be lazy and relax with the family. 

Size and maintenance

Lapponian Herders are easy going mini shepherds that love attention, hikes and short walks. There weight is 30 to 60 pounds, with males getting bigger than females. They shed about 2x a year and blow their coat thin with minimal shedding when this happens. They are low maintenance and great dogs. 

Lapponian Personality

Tail wagging, smiling and yawn talking bellows is what the Lapponian Herder is all about. They are sweet and friendly dog breed. They are not aggressive but they will bark to let you know someone is there. They should be only trained in  herding, agility, friendly dog sports and obedience. They are good family dogs and great with kids.

MEET TIM AND LINDSAY

Updated December 15th 2023: Currently we love showing our AKC registered Lapponian Herder dogs to help better this incredible reindeer herding dog that originated in Finland. Our mission is to help the Lapponian Herders become fully AKC recognized. Right now we are FSS (Foundation stock service). We will encourage all of our puppies to go to homes with the intention to show and promote this dog breed.

MEET TIM AND LINDSAY

JARKKO WAS IMPORTED FROM FINLAND. 

This is us in NYC picking him up! 

We fell in love with the Lapponian Breed and just love their wild wolf life appearance and fox like personalities. We love their perfect small size and relaxed lazy temperaments. 

Jarkko our male is a rare Red Lapponian Herder and he is the sweetest boy!

Lapponians love to curl up and cuddle. But they do get hot in the bed and most the time prefer the cold tile floor.

SANNA!

Meet Sanna - she is our youngest Lapponian for our breeding progam. She has brown puppies and throws lots of color. Her personality is sweet and full of drive to work! Energetic girl.
